Unforgivable.
Really.
It has been over 3 months since my last post.
That is just not right.
Why didn't you say something?
Well, I am here now.
What's new? Well, not much, and at the same time, tons.
Where shall I start?
I guess the best place to start - is the same place that this blog gets its name.
141 Brunswick.
Dad.
The house was filled with family for the Easter weekend. It was filled with kids, grand kids, spouses, cousins, uncles, sisters, sisters-in-law, brothers, brothers-in-law and of course with a grandfather, father and father-in-law. But most of all, this house was filled, for three days, with love; more love than any one house has a right to experience.
It is that kind of love, that kind of energy, that helped "himself" heal.
Of course the weekend went too quickly. Times with the fam always do. It was a lovely weekend - which then permitted the "love" to spill out into the back and front yard.
For those who were present - they will attest to the fact that Dad looked good. He was content to have his family around him. He loves his kids and then by default, he loves his kids kids. Do you think he realizes that he did this? That by asking "Dympna" out on a date this day was possible? Hmmmm.....any other decision would have changed the whole thing....but let's not go there.....that is a philosophy of another color.
So, it is two full weeks and several days after the infiltration - and we are just now finished with the leftovers! And Mary's (or should we say Margret's?) Irish Soda bread still has a bit more life in it!
In January, in my last blog, I had mentioned that Dad's doctor's had said it was not necessary for Dad to see them again for a few months. Those few months have passed and Dad had three visits in the past two weeks. A week ago he had routine blood work. Several days ago Dad went in again to the hospital to have a follow-up PET Scan (see link for more information on a PET Scan) and today Dad saw the doctor to assess how he is doing based on those two visits.

I am very pleased to inform all in earshot that Dad is CANCER FREE!!! I am sorry, you didn't hear me? WILLIAM MICHAEL GORDON, 80 YEAR OLD - BROTHER OF TWO, FATHER OF SIX, GRANDFATHER OF 10 IS CANCER FREEEEEEE!!
Let us bow our heads or lift your heads - whichever is your thing - and whisper our thanks to the universe for Dad's full recovery.
As you all know, Dad's demeanor is one of a subdued-ness.....he is, by nature, peaceful, thoughtful, internal, hushed, placid, quiet, serene, still, stilly, tranquil, untroubled - you get it - he is a calming force in the universe. He makes the rocks in the yard appear active. After he announced the doctor's prognosis - he said he was relieved. The unknown was troublesome to him. We don't see his mind work, and he is certainly not one to just "share" without provocation, but he did say he is quite relieved at the information his doctor's had shared with him.
He has one more visit with his doctor and he has another PET Scan scheduled in three months - all routine follow-up. After that - they don't want to see him again for a year!
So, my friends, family and loved ones....
All is quiet on the Brunswick front - just as it should be.
Smooches to all - Gordon Out.
